- V.I.R.U. (Verses In Real Understanding)
No fancy metaphors, catchy clichéd phrases, or fantasy big willy raps, just reality is what this Chicago native is delivering on every song. Born and raised on Chicago’s infamous south east side, he quickly learned the ways of the street and how to not only survive, but succeed. Trying to escape the violence of the south side, V.I.R.U. quickly learned that struggle knows no boundaries. He went to school on Chicago’s north side where he began rapping at an early age for fun. Five years later he formed a crew named M.A.P., (Money is Almighty Power). The original members of the crew split in different directions and only V.I.R.U. and O.Boy remained as M.A.P. - Both perform as solo artists but continue to collaborate on many projects.
V.I.R.U. has created several solo projects, including his first mixtape “Tell the Truth”, which was an underground hit with songs such as “Tonight” and “Street Allegiance”. “Tell the Truth” earned him numerous shows, radio plays and, in 2006, his first recording contract with Hustle Town, an independent Chicago based label. The label soon closed due to severe budget troubles, leaving V.I.R.U. with only the business knowledge of owning and operating an indie label. With that, in 2009, he started his own label, M.A.P. Records, Inc.
V.I.R.U has loaded up his musical arsenal with extremely talented underground producers such as The SoundProphets, 11:20, and Classick along with Rapper, O.Boy, and soul singers, D-KO and Saray. V.I.R.U. is also the executive producer of all projects released from M.A.P Records, Inc. The first major release from M.A.P. Records was the street-geared EP, “For the Low”, which is available on ITunes and other fine online retail music stores. Also coming soon, is V.I.R.U’s highly anticipated debut album entitled “War and Peace, Volume One”. The album features diverse singles from the hustler’s anthem, “Mobbin thru the hood”, to the socially conscious “Urban Genocide”; listeners are sure to have many musical hungers fed.
